Just some engineering thoughts on oil consumption which may put your mind at rest:
1 litre of oil per 1000 miles with the following (conservative) assumptions...
If your average RPM over each mile is 2500 RPM
And your average speed is 30 MPH (1 mile every 2 minutes)
Then your engine will turn 5000 times per mile
So
Every 1000 miles your engine has completed 5 million revolutions
And so each cylinder will have consumed a 20 millionth of a litre of oil per stroke (or a 20 thousandth of a millilitre) - ever heard that phrase 'the square root of f*ck all' /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif
Whether this is occuring due to manufacturing tolerances in the valve guides of loss of oil through the oil control rings on the pistons, I would, for once, agree with the unqualified opinion of the dealership....
That is - - - Don't worry about it - check the level and enjoy your engine
