From reading the forum is seems that the MAF sensor going is a common problem with the S3's.

Has anyone had one go on them?

When MAF sensor goes is it common for damage to occur to other parts of the engine?

Are there other knock on effects - like other components being damage?

What should you look out for in an engine that has had the MAF sensor replaced?

There's no real short term danger, but if it was run without the maf for a long time then the air/fuel mix could be wrong and mess things up. I'd imagine you would have to be driving it for a long long time for any damage to occur tho.
