Security on 1.8TS

Afternoon people!
Im just trying to sort my insurance out as its renewal time again.

I am considering having a remap this year so want to get the best insurer in preparation for having this done.

Currently Admiral would be after an additional £213, but I have had a quote from Greenlight that is certainly more competitive, especially as they allow ‘free’ remaps (upto 200bhp) but they require either Thatcham 1 or 2 security device, or manufacturers T1/T2 systems are acceptable.

Is the standard alarm/immobiliser on my 01 1.8t sport either of these?

Has anyone had any experience of Greenlight insurance?

I use Brentacre, who are a specialist insurer for VW/Audi.

Very good pricing and very good terms, and they offer a service whereby you are insured up to a certain BHP and as long as you tell them, all cosmetic modifications and engine adjustments up to this Bhp limit are covered, with no admin charge and no increase in premium.

Something to note for Brentacre is that their first premium quote may not be the best, but I knocekd them down £400 to match my best quite, plus negotiated better excess and terms then the rivals so if they don't quite match up to expectations at first, ring them back and discuss, they aren't fixed on price and spec and will try their best to give you a good deal.

Out of interest, how much are admiral after in total ? I got £540 FC. best I could find anywhere.

Brentacre do new for old, like for like on mods, which is why I went for them.

I currenty have 7 points, 3 for an SP30 and 4 for Driving without due care and consideration, I'm 26 and the Car is an A3 with remap, and the normal engine mods and alloys etc. I have one year no claims.

I was paying £1276 per year with Direct line and £750 excess until I realised they werent covering my modifications and I'm with Brentacre now at £834 with £250 excess.

tasser, Admiral are quoting me £375 £100 xs on my standard policy im 28, got a bn41 postcode and 9 years protected ncd clean licence and 5000 miles pa

they wanted an additional £213 for the remap of between 11-25% bhp increase

Greenlight wanted £475 but £350 xs and this included remap up to 200bhp

all these are fully comp quotes
