i no my mates scooby runs 330 bhp and 230bhp at the wheels so he is loosing 100bhp what does the s3 lose?

Its vairable with revs - the more rpm, the higher the transmission losses. At about 5500-6000rpm you'll loose about 70-80bhp, it then starts to climb. I have 110bhp losses at 6600rpm.

wow!! so if there was traction and you were giving it some would it go to 4wd? other wise on a dry day wih loads of traction it would just stay fwd and you wouldnt lose so much would you?

If you have a look at the bottom line of my dyno plot, you can see the transmission loses building up with the revs.

Its so confusing, hence many 4wds are set up in 2wd mode. I saw a RR day at AMD, (RIP!!) and the R32 owners were so miffed that their power at the wheels was only like 135hp! Stock PD150s were making 140+!

When i whent to a rolling road day they said a general rule is around 30%. Dont know if thats just FWD or not.
