s3 suspension

hello read some of the posts am i right in saying i should lower my car 25mm/30mm on 18" alloys
or does it need to go more and where can i get the springs havbe looked around for springs and dampers but the are so many not sure what to go for dont really want to go bilsteins as they are £500 for dampers on other links please or help

Cheaper options are available, it's just that's what most S3 owners go for and suggest.
