Crunch going from 1st to second gear

Indeed- not a single fault whatsoever! It was a 1997 model, had it just over 3years.
Good cars- not to be under estimated by any means in my opinion.

My gears crunch from first to second now and again when trying to boot it in my 1.9 tdi. Also fifth gear isn't working, the lever goes where fifth is but there is no drive, please help me!
About a month after my last post, I eventually get fed up with all the 'common' faults that I experienced with the A6:
- The engine/oil smell through the vents
- Sticky electric windows
- This gear crunching business
- And a few other bits and bobs.
Perhaps I was unlucky to get a bad one- but was surprised at all the 'known' faults of this car.
Not the best experience of Audi for me!
As of Sept 07 I have gone back to Jaguars- this time a top of the range XJR Supercharger - upgraded to 400 BHP!!
