coolant temp sensor

can anyone tell me where this is located on the engine? ive heard there is a grren on and a blue one? does it matter which one i get? i have a a3 1.8 tqs

I changed the coolant temp sensor on my S3, im not too sure about the set-up on the A3 1.8 T.

If it is the same then, it's a 5 min job, be careful make sure the engine is cold and release the lid on the water coolant. I lost alot on my coolant and had to replace the coolant which is not a bad thing.

I will second that, make sure it is cold!!!

Took 2 minutes once I worked out where the sensor was on my 1.8 T Sport.

it will either be oval like the one in Waks write up or square, just locate and unplug the wire to see what shape the socket is, most are oval.

when i changed mine they went on how many wires came out of the conector
