mine did that Rick about a month ago!
Took it to Lion Garage (near Holiday Inn roundabout in town) where I always go for work done on the Audi. new mechanism and labour cost about £130 I think though .
If you're confident in taking your door apart, go for it. Its a blue plastic thing thats snapped, if memory recalls from the pics on the posts.

£130 way to much for me,

am very confident taking it apart, (and i do enjoy it)

ive been using the guide but one of the torx screws is very hard to take off, so i have to wait for weekend when there is more light to play with,

i think the blue clip roughly costs £5

but thanks for the reply paul

mines done the same. itll go down ok, but it comes back up on an angle and then decides to go back down.

I tried taking the door apart but I couldnt remove it completely. Its as if its been glued into position as well as screwed.

Theres a post on here somewhere with a link on it with pictures, i used that when i did mine just before xmas. From memory you have to take the door card off, disconnect all the electrics and remove the subframe. I got re-enforced clips i think they was about 3 each. I did the other clip on the same window while i had the door apart. If you have a memory like me you might find it usefull to code the male and female parts of the electrics so that you plug the right thing back into each other when you put it back together. Its not a hard job at all mate, you'll be fine doing it yourself. Any probs let me know.

I had this on mine. Used a torx key - like an allen key, but with a torx head on it, and a torx socket from my socket set.

ive taken 2 out, the bottom 2

but the top ones wont move, and the one nearest to the mirror, is the hardest one to get to.

if you can upload a pic of the tool you used, would be very helpful

    Thanks

Sorry mate didnt see that last post. The screw nearest the mirror is on the side of the subframe isn't it? To do that one i just took the extension bar off and used the torx bit and the ratchet. What tool are you using with the torx head on it??

    am using this, or similar

and ive put a mole grip one the end to turn it, still wont turn, Also put WD40 on

the top 2 are doing my head in, oposit to the mirror side wont budge at all, and looks like the star shape is damaged inside, wont open and keeps slipping, but if i wanted to tighten it, it doesnt slip at all

Either the bolt has rounded off or you are using the wrong size torx bit. try using a ratchet instead of a grip, if you havent got the adaptor to put between the ratchet and the bit then you can use a 10mm socket. Should give you a bit more leverage using that.

I take it you mean the clips? I paid 1.67 each trade for them, got 3: 2 for the window and 1 for spare. Also when you are putting the torx bit into the bolt make sure that it is really pushed into the bolt before you start to turn it. If you are finding it hard to get the ratchet in between the door and the bolt (for the bolt next to the mirror) you could try putting a spanner on the hex part of the torx bit and turning it like that.

Sorry didnt read your question properly. I just asked for the clips that are on the window regulator which attach to the glass and they knew what i was talking about. The part no. that i got was W4B0837463B and is described as a carrier on the invoice.
