Right so ever since I bought my S3 (second hand) it came with the shietiest lil crappy multi-function steering wheel & knob on the gear shift . It's not the S3 oem one and I want one. Now which ones will fit a 2002 S3? cause everytime I seem to find one I get told it wont fit, so what will? Will this knob (below) fit? I know it's an 8P but was just wondering?

or this knob for an 8L:

Will this steering wheel fit? and would I be able to fit my existing airbag?

I agree, I really like the new one, just not sure about fitments, hopefully someone will pass by with some more info soon :whistle2:

The S3 and my A3 have the same gear stick don't they, which in turn is the same as on the MkIV Golf, which is the only fitment they do? Anyway, it fits my 2002MY perfectly, so unless the S3 is different, and I don't think it is, then it should fit yours too.

I'll sort you a pic out, but it is very similar to the OEM knob in shape, size and gaitor quality. The only difference I could tell is the illumination. That's pretty much why I got it, I didn't want anything 'bling'!

I just had to move the frame that holds the gaitor and clips into the transmission surround from the original knob to this one.

Thinking about it, if you just want a new OEM knob, I've got one in the shed which I got before I ordered the illuminated one with about 3 weeks wear on it! You can have it for the price of a pint if you like?!

I have my old OEM one here. I have a B&M now and don't need the standard one any more.

Edit* Sorry Tooks, didn't read your thread properly.

It took a bit of getting used to. Everything is shorter, and the gear knob doesn't sit so high so it felt like I needed longer arms at first. Impressed now I'm used to it. Feels nice, solid, and meaty.

The aluminium gear knob sucks on a cold morning. :cold:

Yeah, its the TT one. I bought it through Star Performance, and had them fit it too. From memory it took them about two hours. It's an on ramp, exhaust off affair.

It doesn't replace the linkage plate like the diesel geeks one, so you could use the two together. But that would give you a very short throw.....

def it seems the first steering wheel has an airbag (says "mit airbag") i think you should mail the guys and ask them about fitment and airbag stuff.
