Right, I now know that it needs to be a 75w90 GL5 oil in the rear diff, but before I start, does anyone know what tool is needed to remove the drain plug and filler plug?

cheers

Jon

If its anything like the diffs i make the drain plug will be a square centred grub screw (relatively big one)

as for the oil, make sure you get Castrol 75w90 Synthetic transmission oil - its the best type to use.

And mine took Three litres according to my invoice form APS! I thought here was only a litre in there...! So make sure you have enough! It takes a while to drain to, about 30 minutes or so!

Have a look on the VAG Parts LTD website. They sell the tool needed to remove the filter as well as oil and new filter.

there's no filter on the rear diff. are you thinking of the haldex oil and filter?
