Rear light question

On my A3 (2000) i have the plain red rear lights, i was wondering if i bought rear lights off a 2001-2002 model where the rear lights have a clear bit in the middle would i also need to change the bulb holders?

or can i use the bulb holders which are on my current lights?

I've just checked Elsawin, and it shows no difference between the bulb holder layout pre or post facelift, so you should be ok.

I did mine on my old A3. They came with the bulbs/holder as well.

I can confirm that the old bulb holders will fit the new clusters. I have changed a set for a friend and they fitted perfect.
