Does anyone know whether the R32 Gearbox will fit the S3? Same ratios? Or similar?

I'm fed up with the notchy gearchange.

Physically the same size as the S3 'box...but the bellhousing bolts are incorrect.
The S3 engine leans back towards the bulkhead in relation to the gearbox, the R32 slopes forward in relation to the gearbox...

Same as the old 2.0 16v O2A gearboxes vs the VR6 O2A gearboxes...

Are the ratios any different?
I'd have thought a petrol 'O2M' would likely be the same for S3 and V(R)6 in terms of ratios?

Ok, thanks Glen.

If my gearbox ever gives up the ghost completely, it might be worth spending the time swapping the internals maybe...

The ratio's on my corrado VR6 were loads different to a G60. The VR6 had long lazy gears that used the torque whereas the g60 had punchy closer ratio gears (or so it felt anyway).

No idea if this translates into their modern equivalents though.

There has to be someone that's going to do the 3.2 DSG conversion. If you could stop buying wheels, you should put some money into that ;)

LOL !

Why would I want to put a heavy lump like that into the already lardy S3?

Had to spend money to reduce the understeer and all that weight at the front would bring it all back :(

Admittedly it would be a dream to drive...
