APR POWER

I have recently had the 6 hour free trial chip fitted to my s3 by Star Performance and am very impressed. I am now considering the full chip to be fitted. I have been re-assured by Jim Curley that there are no problems but am looking for the public view - any comments will be noted.

I think you get a 1 year warranty, but I could be confusing them with MTM. You definitely get a warranty with MTM.

The difference in the cars overall performance is very noticable but is it worth 527.00 ???????

[/ QUOTE ]

527 for 45-50 BHP...that's immensely cheap power...very much worth the few hunderd quid.

Try getting 45-50 BHP out of a normally aspirated car...that'll leave a 3000-4000 sized hole in your bank balance.

Just over 500 is an absolute steal for the power increase.

Re: Reality Check

Optimax program, Milltek Exhaust, Milltek Hi-Flow Cat and Powergasket (an insulating gasket that helps keep the turbo cooler). I also have a new DV, but I don't think that helps with bhp.

280ish is only an estimate at the moment. Anyone know a AWD RR in Lancashire?

Is thet the gasket that goes in between the inlet manifold and the head?
The one that helps keep the inlet manifold cool?
If so, did you get it from the US?

I was asking about the power estimate as I have everything you have bar the gasket, but I do have a modified airbox with 4" cold air feed, K&N panel filter, custom Forge Motorsport FMIC, custom Forge Motorsport SMIC, Full Samco pressure hoses, Samco inlet hose, AmD Viper DV and a different N75...and I can't get anywhere near 280BHP.

Just over 270 with the standard N75. (304 lb-ft)
And about 275 with the different N75. (332 lb-ft)

I can't seem to get any more power than 275 BHP regardless of what I do...I just wondered if your estimate was a pure guess...or if it had any basis?

as for the changed N75 is that the equavalent part to the ECS item? I had the part number once to get direct from audi or vagparts...

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, that's it...
But I can't get it to run on the road!

It's good on the RR and in summer...but as soon as the temperature drops and the air density goes up..I get soft limp mode!
No use in these cold times.

It's possible to get round it...but then my boost is up to 1.85 bar...and I'm not confident or keeping that up for too long.

So, basically...yes, it works...but no, it doesn't, if you want something you can use all year round. At least it doesn't on my chipped S3 where the boost is already raised.
