Oil Consumption

So I've had the car for about 1000 miles. Already I've put half a litre of oil in it. Is this normal? The car has only done 36k so it should be reliable. I took the engine cover off and had a good look around the head for leaking oil - nothing, same with the water reservoir, going to get it on ramps make sure its not the sump. Just wondered what your views were on it?

I'm sure someone said that it says in the handbook to check the oil every 1000 miles. Yes they can use oil and is considered normal.

Since I changed to Mobil1 however (and change more often) it doesnt seem to use oil like it used to on the Castrol stuff...

Yeah its on the Castrol stuff. Drinks it more than the TDI and thats an Oil burner. Done a few searches and it seems sort of normal!! I hope it is.
