17" Alloys on my A3 TDi?

I'm looking to get some new rims on my 1.9 TDI. I want to go wide and was wondering if I should go for 8x17 rims - does anyone know if a width of 8" will be a problem? If not then anyone with a cheap second-hand set of 8x17s pls msg me

Mines are 17x8 with 35mm offset. No issues. Wheel is just inline with fender arches, no need of wheel spacers.
