The rear brake bulb has recently gone in my A3 (52 plate) and i'm abit stumped as to how to replace the bulb?!

I've had a quick look and from the looks of it i have to unbolt the screws holding the whole light cluster in then replace the bulb that way, because you can't slide out the clip holding the bulb in from inside as things are in the way!......that can't be right can it?! (unbolting the whole cluster to replace a bulb? )

Any help would be great

Thanks,

JC

Is it the near side rear bulb?

If so, then yes, there are things in the way! I unbolted the plastic bracket that holds some kind of control unit, and that gave me enough space to remove the plastic bulb holders and change the bulb as normal. It's not something you could do without a socket set and extension bar though, so unless you carry them in your car, you'd be a bit stuck changing them by the roadside.

If it's the offside, then although it's a bit tight, you can get that one out ok with just a bit of twisting and fiddling.
