Hey all,

after a comedy incident involving a pigeon and the front of my car, I need to source the part number of the clips that retain the lower middle front bumper grille on my S3.

I have taken it into my local dealer, who ordered up a set of clips, but they appear to be much longer than the ones I used to have, and they dont fit.

anybody able to help me get the correct part number please?

couldnt you just use trusty old mr cable tie? or would they be visable from the front

lol, low flying aircraft.. the damn thing walked out on me...

Cable ties would be my last resort, but i'd have to drill the lugs and use the ties as a kind of split pin to fix from the back..

I had the same problem but it was a poxy hub cap :wtf: that i hit at about 85 mph :racer: on the motorway and i lost a side vent aswell but when i asked audi they just said to try a builders merchants? but lucky enough i found about 6 actually in the bumper that had got caught so i just refitted them and its been fine since so i'd check there first mate, good luck

I'm gutted then, i've already had the bumper off and only been able to locate 1 out of the 11 clips... looks like a builders merchant it is then!!

I can't believe that audi can't source these clips. Seems a bit of a joke to me, and not very professional.

blimey... 7 days and audi still haven't sourced these clips... Looking on google turns up no hits...

This is becoming a nightmare...

SORTED!

after 4 months, my lower grille is now fixed back to my car.

Looks like AUDI have re-manufactured these clips, and they now have a new part number. I'll post it when I find the invoice.

That's interesting, they had problems sourcing those little screws that hold the sideskirts onto the S3 doors at 28p each! I ordered 4 of them, and the newer ones are not magnetic like the old ones, which would suggest no iron content, so no more rusting :)

OK, dug the receipt out from under a pile..

The new part number for the Facelift 8L S3 Lower Front Grille Clip is:

A8L9 807 807 (CLIP)

and are 35p each.

Hope that eventually helps people out. I've been after them for 4 months!! My car now doesn't look like I'm trying to pass off an AC radiator as a FMIC...

Thanks to all those who helped along the way too. Looks like we were all chasing non-existant parts..

i bought some of these about a month ago, went to my local specialist and they were here the next day, the part number i had was 8L9807180 and they fit a treat. and they were only 15p each

it looks like that there are a few funnies out there, mine being one of them. They tried those part numbers, and the pre-faclift numbers, and the supplied clips wouldnt fit for love or money. In fact, they didnt look anything like the clips they were on mine. Luckily there were 2 clips still in the undertray, so they had something to go on. They sent loads of digi pics to audi to prove that we weren't talking bull, and they even took the bumper off another s3 that was in the dealers to see what was on that one. Suprise suprise, it also had the same clips as used on mine.
looks like audi listened and re-manufactured some parts...

i dont suppose you have a picture of these new re-manufactured clips do you? just interested to see if theres much difference between them and the ones i got

no, i'm afraid they're all safely clipped on the bumper now :(

however, i'll try and describe them... they are kind of like a U clip, but the tops of the U meet and have teeth on. The grille has holes (11) in it, and the grille frame has 11 lugs which poke though these holes. These lugs dont have retaining clips moulded on, instead you need these metal clips which slide on the frame lugs, sandwiching on the seperate grille. The teeth on the clips, and the tension in the clip retains the clip on the lug.

The clips which AUDI kept supplying were too long, and had one side of the U longer than the other, so they wouldnt clp on basically - exactly the same as the ones in the pics you sent me. The new ones sit flush up to the end of the lug, and both sides are the same length.
