its either the runner motor or the runner itself, possibly an easy fix but i would suggest gettin it done asap!

Yeah thanks for the speedy reply mate im goign to have to take a half day at work and try get it sorted!

Should i call some-one out mobile or just take it to my local audi?

Audi im thinking £££££££££££££???

Jason

well audi quoted me £220 to change the dv with a factory OE dv to reset the engine light.

so if you have got a VAG specialist near you, or a decent garage/mobiler then just give them a call, its only a window motor/rail not worth forking out at audi for it.

I have the same problem with my driverside window.

But in my case, it only sometimes happens that it wont close.

It's as if when the window is on its way up it hits a restriction & starts to go all the way back down again.

I have managed to cope with this for a few months now (by not using the window when i can helps).

I have found a little trick... when the window is on its way back up, be standing outside of the car and clasp the window with both hands (if possible). One hand etiher side of the glass. Then as its on its way back up use a little force to keep it on its way travelling upwards. I tehn have to pull the part of the window nearest to the B pillar to make the fit better of i c feel/hear the air outside when the car is in motion.

Wish i could afford to get mine sorted out, but funds are tight at the moment.

Is it easy enough to fix myself does anyone know?

Cheers.

I bet you this is what it is. http://www.piglet-net.net/tech/cars/a3-window.html

Very useful link on exactly what to do. The part costs about £2.50, but it will take you a couple of hours to fit it as you have to take the door to bits and remove the door subframe.

Exactly the same thing happened to me in a service station in the south of France just as I was beginning the 700 mile trip home. Fortunately with brute force of 3 people's fingers on the glass, we managed to close the window - otherwise my back seat passenger would have got very, very cold!

I'm in Surrey to so could help out when you get the replacement clip as I've done this before.

In the meantime, what you need to do is get some friends, as Pete says, to grab the glass as it sticks out a few inches and before it winds back down. As I said, it took 3 of us, but a bit of brute force will close it - at least that solves the rain problem.

Thats strange my sunroof sometimes wont shut if its been fully opened, i just assumed the motor was goosed could it be something else?

It slows right down, stutters, stops then opens itself up again unless u grab it and give it a good proper pull.

Give A H Autos in Guildford a buzz, they're VW Audi specialists and very reasonable.

this is a relatively easy fix, it was covered a while ago. you just need 2 new clips per side

Perfectly timed! My drivers side (of all the windows to go!) has decided that its not playing the game now......had to happen whilst raining at KFC didnt it! LOL....

Will be giving this guide a go!

Cheers!
