Air Con Problem

whenever i used to press the "heat windows" button the little compressor icon would also be turned on but now it doesnt, and whenever i press the compressor button the icon will only stay on if i hold the button in and go off when i release it, i take it the compressor is knackered?

This one's a classic, basically, when the temps outside drops to 5degreesC or less, then the compressor switches off, so the ice sybol goes off, it isn't broke, it's one of those clever things that helps preserve your compressor from killing itself.
