Increasing spool up time?

Hey all - are there any mods that can be done to make the turbo spool up quicker?

When Im finished with my mods Ill have a nice level of max boost but would like to get it up there quicker!

Ive a std exhaust with cats in atm would that be a place worth looking? downpipe even or something?

you'll already be making peak torque at about 3000 - 3500rpm, which is just the right place for accelarating. Any lower and you simply won't put the power down. You then go on to make peak power somewhere around 5500rpm, you defo don't want that any lower or you'll just be changing gear even more.

The K04 is about as fast spooling as Turbo's get TBH ie It's pretty small.

Is it lazy or does it just go fast without fuss?

What remap have you got.

The 1.8T never sounds very exciting and i'd imagine that 4wd transfers the power quiet calmly.

On the other hand my A3 with nearly 200bhp through the front wheels with no trick dif or traction control occasionaly chooses to steer itself. It will be faster spooling though as i only have a tiny K03.
