    Help needed please!!

    Hi, I have just bought a 2000 a3 1.8 turbo. I am having a problem when driving over 50. When I change gear and accelerate there is a severe delay (the car physicly slows down/judders) for about 2 seconds, and then it's fine until I accelerate hard or change gear again.
    The car is completely standard, has done 66000 miles and has just had a service and cam belt.
    I would be greatful for any help/info you have,

    That would be the MAF(airflow) sensor then, yours for £80 exchanging your old unit from any VAG stealership, a simple 10 minute job, so save yourself the labour.

    Is the MAF another name for the Lambda sensor? or is it something completely different. My car had the VAG com test... Lambda sensor wasn't working properly.. got it changed.. but its still not 100% still juddering a bit..

    Just to double check that it's the MAF sensor, try unplugging the connector for the MAF right after the airbox in the engine bay, and take the car out for a spin, it will be running lower on power, but the power hesitance should disappear. If it's still there, then it could be something else...

    No, the MAF sensor is situated after the airbox, where as the lambda sensors is situated after the turbo near the cats on the exhaust.

    I second what Jojo says about the MAF. Just make sure you unplug it with the ignition switched off, to be on the safe side.
    Just do it to diagnose the problem. Leaving it unplugged isn't a long term cure, even if it seems to run better.
