Strange noise

I've got a weird noise from the back of the car under hard acceleration at around 4-5k revs. It sounds like stones are hitting the exhaust. Anyone got any ideas?

I had a similar problem with a sound from the exhaust, but mine was when decelerating in gear at around 2k revs. Turned out to be a loose heatshield. Might be something similar?
