I bought my 2000 1.8T the weekend before last and she only came with one key.

This morning when my mrs came to go to work we'd lost it (the key that is). :)

So I've decided we need a spare.
My stealer wants £100 for the key and £50 to program it.:wtf:

Is there a cheeper way?

Thanks for replies in advance,
Roo

I think it's a stealer job, you don't have an original key for anyone to cut you out a replica with, so looks like £150 it is... :(

What if you have one original?
Can you just buy one of the blanks on ebay?
If you can get a copy cut what needs to happen for it to work with immobiliser?

I would maybe try a different dealer mate, i had a spare ordered, cut and programmed for £85 at glasgow audi!

I have now found the key.(the mrs likes to look for things without moving anything) :)

But would still like a spare just incase it happens again.

Could I buy a blank off ebay and then only be charged £50 to program it?

Probably, depends how difficult your dealer like to be tho, if its just a spare key i wouldnt buy the button type either, just buy a plain audi key with transponder.

It's possible to program the key yourself, so long as the key bit is cut to the same as the original and the transponder is the right frequency.

Do you know where I can find info on programing the key myself?

And will this program the imobiliser too so the car can be started with the spare key?

Would be a waste of time getting one from ebay if I can't find the info too use it :uhm:
