get your track rod ends checked. if they have excess play they can cause noises on uneven surfaces.

Well that tapping sound turned into a KNOCKING/BANGING sound on the way home, seems to be related to the speed i'm going and not the engine revs so think it could be the big end?....car was towed eventually to a garage (after having to go back and find a tow truck that the car could get on due to it being so low)

Well I got it towed to another garage who are going to look at it tomorrow.

There is a suggestion about strut mounts, causing trouble knocking too! Planning to get mine down at the same time as the wishbones, just for safety.
