Hi everyone,

I've got an a3 1.8ts 2001 with 100k on the clock, recently have been having trouble selecting reverse seems to be worse when shes cold, is this a problem with my clutch or gear box?

Would simply changing my gearbox oil help to sort this out.

Any help on this matter would be great.

Thanks.

I thought most cars don't have syncro for reverse - is the A/S3 different? (I was always told that you depress the clutch a little longer before going into reverse to stop it groaning and grinding on the way in because there's no syncro)

Regards,

Rob.

when your syncro is on the way out doesn't it crunch into gear mine just doesn't want to go into gear at all and i don't like to force it.

Think i'll change the gear box oil first then if its no better go to a stealers and see what they say.
