Hi Guys,

Not good news started driving the car Friday morning and it felt like the back end of the car was dragging and shaking! Had the Audi dealer checked it out and turns out to be the rear Diff that is knackered! They quoted £2500 for a replacement. Anybody know where I could get may be a good second hand one or a reconditioned one? And Price.
Any help greatly appreciated

Jit

Thanks for your reply and link.

Does anybody know if the 210bhp dif is the same as the 225 bhp dif ?

Can the 225bhp diff be fitted to a 210bhp car will it need to be modified?

As I have found a secondhand 225 bhp dif.

Thanks!

out of interest, what mileage is on your car?

Out of interest who long have you had the car and was it brought from a dealer or private sale

AFAIK, the Haldex differential is the same on the A3 Quattro, S3(210 and 225), TT, Golf 4Motion and R32, with only the software(haldex controller) being different on the R32 versions, anyone else confirm this?

I believe the Haldex itself is the same for all VAG cars...
Just the controller that's differewnt.

Certainly 210 and 225 S3 is the same (as far as I'm aware!)

Thanks guys for confirming that they are the same. Jabba sport also confirmed that they are the same. I've got a second hand one coming from a VAG breakers out of a 2002 S3 225bhp.For £200 with a 30 day warranty. A bit worried what it will be like for that price hopefully it will be ok. Does seem very cheap and too good to be true but hey we'll see. He who dares and all that!! I'll let guys know how i get on..

Right Guys bit of a problem, had the garage ready to fit my second hand diff today. I get a phone call that the counter weight coupling thingy which fits between the prop shaft and Dif was also worn out. So i thought ok no probs i'll call Audi and get the part. no parts available any where in the UK. will take 10-14 days from Germany. I also tired VW same outcome. Have emailed vagparts.com awaiting a reply. i've tired the usual GSF and Euro's but its a orignial dealer part only.

Part number 1J0 521 307 D

Any idea's where i can get one from sooner than 2 weeks??

Cheers
Jit

Hi Guys after waiting 3 weeks for the part to come in from Germany, I have had the Dif fitted all seems ok until I am doing about 40mph when I can feel a vibration from the rear of the car, apart from the obvious the new dif is knackered what else could it be? (I didn’t think Diffs vibrated) Could it be the new counter weight part? I know it’s a bit hard to diagnose just looking for ideas. Thanks

Anyone know where I can get the Dif refurbished? Haldex specialist?

Any help greatly appreciated

Silly question, but have they concidered the Haldex controller being knackered?, I'm not sure of the symptoms, but I've heard it can happen?

There was a problem with the controller and the traction control light would come on and stay on, so swapped that with the one from my old diff and tha fixed that problem :) but still got the diff noise now.

Cheers

could it just be rear wheel bearings??
