Afternoon all, the coolant temp warning flashed at me this morning, 10 seconds after I started the car.

Checked the level, and all seems fine. There are no leaks, and it's quite new, changed in the last 6 weeks.

Anybody had this problem?

Any ideas what it could be? Level sensor? Temp sender?

Andy

Yes - a common problem, particularly on colder mornings. There's probably nothing wrong. I believe the sensor is seated too high in the reservoir.

Top the reservior up a little - to just over the max line - not much, say 50-100ml. This should stop it happening for a few months but it usually comes back. Then top up again.

As the mornings are getting colder, more people will start to see this.

Yup. Another common one.

Like the man says if the levels look OK, its probably the sensor.

I take it the warning goes away after the engine has been ticking over for a minute or so?

Yeah almost immediately. I've been carrying coolant around with me ever since I changed my turbo. Don't know why, just makes me feel better! Lol

Good to know it's nothing major. And to think people will actually go crwaling to the stealers for this!! Lol

Cheers guys!
