    how harsh are s3's with springs and arb

    on my cossies the ride was nice but firm but with smaller cars the ride gets worse wots the s3 like? dont wont it to harsh so when i go over a drain i need a new spine!

    mine rides better than it did as standard with H&R springs,H&R ARB's and Bilsteins.

    I believe mine rides well too, it's not too harsh imo but some might disagree, and I've got the Poly bushes all over which "in theory" should make it harsher but I just feel it made the whole car "tighter".

    P.S. Mine is lower 30mmF 35mmR

    I'd agree here..

    It sometimes feels stiffer/tighter than standard, but doesn't crash out on potholes.
    In general the ride is far better as the car feels more planted and much less unsettled.

    Had mine fitted last week. front and rears with addition of koni adjustable coilovers and the ride has improved along with the handling. I also found major improvements to steering response. With lowered cars,especially with low profile tyres, you'll find the ride becomes slightly bumpy.but i supose its a small price to pay when you get better handling, steering responce and looks in return.

    I've just taken my car into the local specialist to get some work done and while I was there I asked for a price to do the suspension. We got talking about manufacturers, so I told him I was going for H&R and Billies. When I said this he told me the H&R's are really harsh and I'd be better with Eibach. Thoughts?

    Tell him he's talking ****e.

    On the S3, it's been proven time and time again, the H&R springs are more compliant around town, where the Eibachs are harsh(er).
    It's also my belief that the H&R springs tighten up more under high compression, compared to the Eibachs...so win-win.

    I hate people giving bad information...
    On the S3 the H&Rs are brilliant.

    Cheers mate. He also said that if I was only lowering by 20ish mm then the adjustable arms weren't necessary. Bit late as I've already bought them! lol! I can't complain though, he's a top bloke who does an excellent job at more than fair prices. Even if his opinions differ from the masses I'd still recommend him to each and every one of you! Just glad I've got the masses on my side
