the light on my dash has come on to tell me i need new brake pads, on a 1.8tq a3, just took wheel of and the pads look ok to me, do the rears have sensors? if so i hope its not the rear pads that need changing,

pretty sure the rear pads dont have sensors, you could have a faulty front sensor though, how much is left on the pads ? have you checked the inside pads too ?

No I don't remember the rears having sensors. On the fronts there is a wear indicator which basically is a wire which runs through the pad. When this is broken it throws the warning light.

This normally comes on when the pads still have a good few months life. They are real easy to change and relatively cheap from GSF etc. but no real panic if they aren't well down.

Often its the inside edge pad which goes first even when the outers look v.good still
