S3 Flat Spot?

Hi Guys,

Have recently noticed that in 2nd and 3rd (normally) im not getting the same kick i used when putting my foot down.

Now this only occurs sometimes also, when i do get the correct boost, i can tell right away, hence the concern over this "flat spot"

After reading a few posts, and speaking to a local specialist, i believe this could be the MAF sensor? Are they cheap to replace? And is this normally the case for the problem i have?

Your advice is appreciated
 
quick one, is the air flow meter, the same as the MAF?
 
Could be MAF, DV, N75, Leaking Hose. Lots of things really.

New MAF is £88 from Audi.

If you know somebody with VAG-COM then that's be where i'd start.

I doubt a problem like this is generating any specific fault codes but it's worth checking. If not, you need to use VAG-COM to do some data logging, i'd start with the following:

g/s airflow - will tell you if your MAF is working

Boost Requested vs Actual - Will tell you if you are generating the correct amount of boost from the turbo; indicative of a number of things such as leaking hose, faulty DV etc.

% Duty Cycle (N75) - Shows whether the N75 is opening the turbo wastegate the correct amount at the correct times; indicative of a simple split hose or a stuffed N75
 
Cars booked in at Audi in amersham tomorrow ( way cheaper than crazy london rates) and im 99% sure the problem i have is the MAF, as all hoses etc have been checked.

Now they want 170 + vat for the part and to fit it! Which is a bit over the top, so, wanted to know if any of you have pics, or a brief description on how to replace this, as if its that simple, im sure ill be able to do it
 
take you 15 minutes to take your old maf out and install new one!!
2 screws thats it! dont let them ripp you off.
 
what a bunch of rip off merchants!! Maximum of 10 minutes to fit one. Charging you about 1hr 45!
