Does the 8L A3 1.8T have a light on the dash that tells you if the bonnet is open?

I was cleaning my engine bay on saturday and noticed that a wiring loom was going in to the remains of a microswitch right by the bonnet catch. It was totally ****** so not exaclty sure what the switch should have been contacting on. For now i've uplugged the loom and removed the broken switch and nothing adverse has happened.

If it's just for a curtousy light on the dash i won't bother fixing it; if it's related to the alarm then i guess i'd better do something :)

It depends. Do the indicators still flash when you lock the car?

Yeah, they do.

It looks like the casing for the switch expired a long time ago. I assume my alarm is working ok. Then again it's never gone off so how would i know?

I'd have thought that if this was alarm related then disconnecting it would trigger the alarm. After all even the dumbest car thief can unplug a wire; or maybe i'm expecting too much of Audi's security? :)
