Pillar airbag logo on S3

Saw a mate in his S3 last night and noticed he had "Airbag" embosed at the top of his front pillars on his 2002 S3.
Mine is a 2002 S3 but doesn't have the embosed Airbag sign.

He has silver leather whilst I have black, other than that pretty much similar spec.

Any ideas, and does anyone else have Airbag on their pillars ?!

Its because it was ordered with the optional side curtain airbags.

there will be airbags behind that trim and up and over the door frame etc

they roll down over the windows.

I thought they all had the side airbags?

Just had a look at Parker reviews and it says that there was a "Sideguard system" available for £470

I guess thats the curtain that goes all the way into the rear passenger compartment and not just the side airbags then ?

do you mean on the side of the recaro, a plastic badge ? mine have them which is good yar (black leather).

No he means the air bag in the A pillar

all S3's get airbags in the side bolsters of the Recaros.

"side airbags" in the Apillars and over the door were optional.

neither of my S3's had them, because i didnt spec them.
