    Cost of replacing ARB

My Anti- roll bar needs to be replaced, along with the bushs also, i find this a lil strange as my car has only covered 27k miles, its a 2001 S3.

What kind of cost do you think i would be looking at to do this job?

Ive had 2 S3's prior to this, and this same fault has occured on all 3 S3's ive owned! Time for Audi to reconise this as a fault i think!

Anyway, have been quoted about 160 to have this done, and also been told that the car does not need 4 wheel alignment afterwards either by a specialist, do this sound right to you guys?

    Thanks for the advice

Its a 2hr job to replace the ARB's and you don't need to do a 4 wheel alignment unless they drop the wishbones too, which isn't the best idea in the world. Unless your charging by the hour. To change just the bushes, may not need to drop the subframe, you don't even need to remove the wheel on the drivers side.

Will going for an uprated ARB, make a huge difference to the handling? To be fair, its pretty spot on already

Are you on standard suspension? If so you have got to be kidding.

how do you no when your ARB needs replacing i sometines have a knocking noise over speed bumps but the garage have cast there eyes over it but cant tell me what it is. Sometimes its fine, its definately nothing to do with the suspension. Is it more likell to be a bush somewhere?

makes a massive difference if you go for the H&R's. Tranform the car, will not roll at all, great fun watching BM's almost tipping over trying to keep up lol.

ok the rear arb is a doddle 30 min job,

the front is harder and you have to drop the subframe, not so for the bushes but then the bushes is only a 1hr job tops. 4 wheel alignment is recommended if you drop the subframe but if your carefull it should go back where it was.

ive done both now to R32 arb the rear was the most noticable, the front has made the car better at speed.

how much do you have to drop the subframe???

is it just a matter of undoing the 4 main bolts and allowing the S.F. to drop an inch or two....

or does it have to be removed completely?

remove the rear bolts, loosen but don't remove the front bolts. Remove at the steering rack bolts. You lift the rack and pull the ARB out underneath it.
