Air con gas

whats r134a? i would rather get it done with a professional machine it sucks out the old and the impurities then refills it for £75 once a year job done..

R134A is a refrigerant... Myself and a mate have spent the last few weeks working on a computer for a upcoming magazine-shootout which uses it in the chiller for the water that cools the CPU. :tocktock: The worst few working weeks of the year so far :(

Regards,

Rob.

just had mine done, and it makes such a difference, I couldnt find anything in all of the old invoices to say it had been done. I dont actually think its in the service, schedule, definitly worth doing in this weather!

I belive Quikfit do regassing for £40 or there abouts now (so makes the ebay auction look expensive), it should only need doing about every 5 years :)

No, it's not. Mine is definitely getting a bit weak now (my TDi is a 1999). I've considered using the can, but I reckon a specialist will do it for about the same money.

They don't know a fat lot about fitting tyres, fixing brakes, or changing exhausts, but that's never stopped them.

How much did this cost you if I might ask - I have been thinking exactly the same thing driving along today with the DIS showing 34.5C and a weak coldish stream of air hitting my face!

Its being trialed in the london area apparently with a view to rolling out nationwide depending on how that goes...... my mate works for em....

Just booked mine in for a re-gas on Saturday at a local garage £49.50 inc.
They'll add a colourant for an extra £10 if they believe that there's a leak in the system and this will allow them to locate it with a UV light 1 week later.

LOL, thats a bit bitchy

given the fact that they once forgot to tighten a friends wheelnuts, I'd be in agreement though.

..wonder if it had anything to do with the fact we used to call the fitter "Big Tits" at school. He probably didn't like that.

I got it done for free by a friend, but I think its possible to get them done for as little as £40

Just got my air con fully serviced & regassed for £50.

If you just want it re-gassed then its only £30.

At a little AUDI garage in GILDERSOME (LEEDS)

what do they do when they 'service' it?

Bargain, may call my dealer up and ask-Agredd though for a service do they renew the seals or something?

I'm trying to source someone in the Teeside area today to sort my aircon out for me aswell.
When i bought the car, the previous owner told me it needed a new pipe for the system. I managed to get a used item from a VW/Audi breakers yesterday for far far less than the £128 my local AUdi $tealer wanted! £20 is what i paied for it, so im quite happy :)
The engine is still a little too hot at the moment to connect the bottom end of the pipe, so waiting untill its cooled down a bit more.

Cheers, Pete.

I had the the chance to test out the new machine at work yesterday. My system felt pretty chilly before and that was with 500 grammes less than the system holds. Removed the remaining gas, vac'd down the system to check for any leaks and re-gassed to 750 grammes total. The difference in performance is amazing. :arco: :)

got mine booked in for next week

special offer..... decontamination and service £60

so that should take the smell away and get it cold again

Pete69zx..... did you find anywhere
i got 3 prices all around the £60 around boro area

just got a flyer through my door for Kwik Fit, recharge your AC for 44.95.

if its not 10% cooler afterwards, you get it for free!

Attempted to change the missing pipe earlier & suprise suprise.... it wasnt the correct fit asfter all :-(

I took it back to the breakers yard & swapped it out for the correct one (i fitted it there & then, once the engine had cooled down a bit!).

Cheers, Pete.

Im gonna call a guy called 'Mike Gascoigne' (i think its Mike anyways), based on the Mandale Triangle.

Cheers, Pete.

got mine regassed last week

definately colder........
so cold now cant have it on AUTO.... LO
the fan speed seems to have increased a bar or two on the display
i m assuming this is because the system is full again
but definately worth getting done

Mine turned out to be the compressor is knackerd.

Long story short, approx £500 puts it right!
:wtf:
