Right, next problem.

Something I've noticed over the last 2000 miles or so (car has done 14500miles) is a droning sound as the drop through 3000rpm.

But at a constant speed/revs there's no droning. I realise some people experience boominess on the motorway, but its something that doesn't really affect my car.

My guesses are: exhaust or could it be the dual-mass flywheel problem that was mentioned on the old site?

The best way to reproduce the problem is:
5th gear, 70mph. Lift-off the accelerator, and let the revs and speed drop. As the cars speed falls past 65mph/3000rpm the drone starts, and continues until speed is under 60mph.

Any ideas?

Does it sound like a jumbo jet taking of in the distance? I get this thrumming noise quiet often but ignore it.

Benjy,

I would describe the sound to be more like "blowing over a milk bottle". (Don't anyone suggest my DV is gone, I know it isn't). So its more of a deep, resonating sound.

Cheers
