I received my new aerial base today from vag parts at first I thought this looks a little tacky & not worth the money. Then as progressed with fitting, it made alot more sense.
Rather than the module being built into the cone on the outside stub piece the module is now on the inside. Two rubber gaskets sandwich the roof line to provide a seal (bolt on top) then the one piece piano black rubber cap fits over the top. I was pretty impressed with the new design I the only thing I had trouble with was disconnecting the old aerial from the antenna lead. Otherwise it took less than half hour.
Well recommended if your aerial base is looking a little shabby & you have a fear of water getting in.
Thanks
Matt
