If I get a trial version of a remap on my car and let it time out, can it cause problems if I was to try a different one at a later date?

Dave

does anybody other than revo offer a trial?

It may cause problems if you go for a re-map somewhere else in the future.

For Instance, all REVO trial software has to be removed (at cost) before the new map is installed.

The REVO software does not revert back the factory map when the trial run out, it installs REVO's version of a standard map which makes the car perform poorer than standard.

The revo trial can be reverted to standard for free by the revo installer. If you take your car to another tuner and it already has had a previous trial run on it then they will charge to remove it.

I know that APR does one too. Wouldn't mind giving that a shot too before deciding.

Mine's in the garage today and they were going to put the Revo on. Might give it a second thought now. Thanks for the advice.

I took my car to AMD to get remapped after a REVO trial. They remapped it without any problems, however the car was significantly down on power when it got there and really confused them, until I mentioned the REVO trial map.

Hmm - Revo dealer in Surrey - is that Wheelbase in Hersham?

Fontain (I crossed the border)

Well since you seem to be local to Guildford, I'll mention AHAutos&Sons on Slyfield (for general servicing) - a small place but specialises in Audi/VW and tells it straight.
I used there for most services when I had my A3 and will probably use them again with the Skoda.

Is this proven to be true?

Does it also apply to setting the performance to the stock setting via an SPS?

I've heard that it's harder for another tuner to map a car after the trial as some of the codes are still in the system and have to be cleared?

If this were true wouldn't this http://www.revotechnik.com/products/faq.aspx mean them being done under trade descriptions or similar and them being a global company I think it might be just be untrue

Not sure what they'd be done for as it doesn't say anythin on there about it not being detectable/awkward to remove when trying to apply someone elses remap. As Nervus says, it doesn't revert back to the standard map, but to REVO's version of the standard map.

If you are unsure that performance software is really suitable for your driving style, or indeed if you are the enthusiast that would like to test the revo difference against other software manufacturers, we offer you a free 5 hour trial period for your own vehicle!

16. What is the trial program?
The trial program is a test program we give away free of charge. It is used for people who are not sure if they want to purchase performance software or people who would like to test different software manufactures and compare them to each other. The software is activated on a special timer and when the trial period expires the chip reverts itself back to its original condition.

There are a couple of statements there which heavily imply they do nothing to block you trying other remaps...

Anyhow I went ahead with the trial as the garage assured me they can upload the Audi code later if I need to.

So far I'm impressed. Throttle response at low end is very nice, plenty of mid range torque and even the exhaust note sounds better /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Didn't get a chance to do much testing at the top end on the M25 tonight but I will go for a proper run later in the week.
