Windscreen scuttle

Trying to sort out the scuttle panel which keeps lifting off the bottom of my screen. Noticed now that the clip that runs along the bottom of the windscreen is completely cracked in places which is why its not holding the scuttle down. Anybody know if this can be replaced in situ or if it can only be done when the screen is replaced. Had a brief look and it seems to move but not come off so want some confirmation before I try with a bit more effort.

And before it gets suggested, I know I could possibly fix it down with silicon but Id like to try to sort it properly first

    Re: Windscreen scuttle

Can only been done with screen out. When my first screen went from "chasis flex" i got the dealer to replace under warranty ....after fitting the scuttle didnt fit well so they agreed to replace.

They had remove a perfectly good screen (which broke in the process) to sort it out.

I'm not sure about having to remove the screen to do the scuttle panel - assuming you are only talking about the plastic that rests on top of the screen, at the bottom edge near the bonnet:

When my windscreen was recently replaced on my Skoda Octavia, the scuttle was removed before the windscreen came out.

The guy removed the wipers, then unclipped the whole scuttle panel (it looked fiddly at the edges near the sides of the car) and then lifted it out. It's 2 separate pieces that overlap in the center (on the Octavia MkI at least).

The scuttle fits on the bottom of the screen, if the screen its not removed the scuttle wont fit properly (leaves a gap between it and the glass).

The scuttle panel is the metal that the lower part of the screen is bonded to..and it runs down into the bulkhead.

The scuttle trim is the clip in plastic piece that has a rubber seal to seal against the outside of the windscreen, and then connects to the firewall in the engine bay.

Which bit are we speaking about?

The plastic trim comes off with care...

The scuttle panel is a welded part of the 'shell.

    Re: Windscreen scuttle

Its the scuttle trim then, the large plastic trim that houses the washer jets etc and this clips into a plastic section that looks like is bonded inplace with the windscreen. Its this plastic clip which runs along the bottom of the windscreen that the scuttle trim attaches to that im having problems with, the scuttle trim isnt clipping in as the clip is broken.

Unsure if I can replace this clip trim or if it can only be done when the window is fitted
