thinking of gettin a remap for my 1.8 t quattro, firstly, whats the difference between a generic map and a custom map? and secondly what sort of bhp would i be looking at if ive got 180 to start with>? thanks

I would expect around the 220bhp.
A custom remap usualy means the car is rolling roaded to gain the best figures possible for that specific vehicle.

220BHP seems about right, if you look on the Jabba Sport website you should be able to get some exact figures. Jabba shoulodnt be far from you in licolnshire.
