remote central locking problem

so when i bought my s3, it came with 1 key. Not even a remote locking keyfob so today i went to a guy to make me one up. He proceded to get my pin and set about programming my new remote. It turn out that vcds did not allow him to set up a new key, it didnt even give him the option. He suggested that the control module might be faulty and therefore cant be picked up.

I got him to cut the key and do the immob bit anyway so just the central locking isnt working. Im gonna try figure out how to program it myself

So can someone tell me where abouts the control module is and does this sound like a wiring issue? and what can i do about it

Its a 2003 s3.

Remote central locking is in the rear quarter passenger side of the boot. Below the rear light. It should be surrounded by some black foam padding. Remove it, then it is connected by 2 vacuum pipes and 3 or 4 plugs. The plugs often get corroded but the unit will also have a part number if you need it replacing... Hope that helps
