Turbo sqeal!

since remap the turbo has been louder as expected and i understand and know why that is.

Recently, past about 5000rpm the turbo has really been screaming. i can't say its a bad noise but it just sounds a little too high pitched....

Anyone noticed a change like this in turbo noise?

Have you got vagcom or a boost gauge mate? I would check how much boost your are making just in case.

Also have a check for any pipes that may have come loose..

He has a T sport which will have the metal non-colapsable pipe.

Is the sound like a metallic squeal?

it doesnt sound bad and i've not noticed anything lose. its just very high pitched. instead of the whoosh you hear from forcing air through the turbo its more of a pronounced noise...

It's probably normal then, just the turbo working harder?

mine does that when you really, really wind it up.

You get the standard turbo noise which then develops into a high pitched whine.

Like dicky says, I'd be interested to see what boost you are running.

i couldnt tel you how much boost i'm running and i don't have VAGCOM. I have had my remap changed a little by Adam at amd because i was getting too much Torque low down in the rev range which made the car run un-smooth.

As a result he changed the Re-map so that i've got more boost high up the rev range... so with what you have all said i guess i could be running slightly more boost than normal at high end revs??
