Hi, I have just bought a Audi A3 1.8t 51 plate. Forgive me if this post is not the best as I am new to posting on forums, but read them quite a lot. Basically I am just posting to see if anyone has any experience in flushing these engines with fortes engine flush. I have read quite a lot on this but the post are from years and years ago. The ones I have read basically suggest if I am to do this I would have to drop the sump as soon as I drain the oil, clean it or replace it. Or otherwise I will just block the pick up of oil and starve the engine. Does anyone have any experience of dropping these sumps? Any advice on this would be appreciated whatever the input.

cheers

I've used engine flush on other cars. Never dropped the sump though. What I would recommend if your going to do it is, make sure you drain the oil cooler, by disconnecting a pipe, then put a cheap filter on, and some cheap oil in. Run the car around, on this for a while. Then drain again, put a proper filter on, and some decent oil in.

I've worked in several garages and they have all said to never use engine flush on a petrol turbo as it thins the oil too much and starves the turbo.
