My 2001 s3 seems to hold the revs for a second or two. Mainly noticeable on boost sounds awful when changing gear at speed. I'm not sure if it's something to do with the DV not opening ( I guess their would be more air pressure at high revs resulting in revs holding) or ifs it something throttle related (if it was would it not effect it at all rev range?)
Our I could be completely wrong any ideas ?

It could be your clutch switch, im sure I had this when my clutch pedal snapped, once the switch was replaced, it was fine.

If you have VCDS, you can check to see if its functioning or not by pressing and depressing it.

Hope that helps.
