hi im going to be running a 8.5j on the front and 9.5j on the rear. on my s3 8l.

iv read up that the rolling diameter needs to be within 3%?

any help with tire sizes? im after abit of stretch ideally.

someone i know was running 225/40's all round and recons there wasnt any haldex problems? would those tire sizes be ok?

thankyou limbo.

I understand that the 1st gen Haldex unit on the S3 doesn't care too much about rolling radius differences front to rear, one of the benefits of the Halldex over a Torsen diff fitted to the A4 etc.

The rears are essentially freewheeling until the system detects differences in propshaft rotation front to rear which would indicate wheel spin, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Seen someone running 8.5J front and 9.5J rear Alphards on an S3 and there was no mention of any problems.

He had 215/40 tyres front and 225/40 rear on his.

Far too small tyres for those rim widths. I don't get it. I much prefer the look of a car with safe tyres and suitable grip.

You've got to admit, it looks good?
