    Quick question: S3 price

Planning on popping my cherry and getting an S3 after my A3's engine died.

What sort of price should I be looking to pay for a nice clean example? Standard - no mods. Just a rough idea.

What sort of mileage is acceptable? Obviously lower the better and this is subjective but if you were buying one today what would be the upper limit for you?

I don't plan on changing car any time soon after this so obviously want it to last as long as possible.

For a very clean one from a dealer I would say your looking in the 4-5k mark and knock off about a thousand private. If your planning on modding yourself look for one like for like as most have been owned by enthusiasts or such. You can usually see a bad one a mile off.

Buy on condition and history as opposed to mileage, a high mileage pre-facelift can be a far better car than a lower mileage facelift one depending on the owner. 150,000+ miles is not an issue if the car has a good history of regular servicing, personally I would avoid those that have been on Audi's so called long life servicing as it has been known to screw things up a bit due to the oil not being changed as often as it should. Personally I think the pre-facelift interiors are better and don't suffer the problems of worn buttons that the facelifts often do. A well modded enthusiast car will be a great buy and save you the cost of modding.
