Hi Scotty89. Welcome to audi-sport.net. You will find lots of info in the faqs thread. Enjoy the forum. :) x

couldn't you find a better colour?....only joking..car looks fine....
.

Cheers mate

I have a wee problem though
On startup when i turn the ignition on it makes a grinding noise for a second and also when it's idling I can hear a ticking noise coming from under the bonnet?

Car looks in pretty good condition, good buy! Wish I got mine looking this clean.

:o.k:

if the ticking noise is coming from a black box on the drivers side of engine bay its nothing to worry about as this is the charcoal canister and they all make that noise.

as for grinding I would defo investigate that more as any noise like that aint good

It's only started since I reversed it into my lockup
Which is on a steep hill
Dunno if it's done any damage
It came with a full service history and it's currently at 164k on the clock
My first thought was the starter motor

The grinding noise on start is more than likely the starter motor they can be taken apart and cleaned up is it a dull grinding noise or high pitched?

I should imagine that will be starter motor if it happens directly as the car starts for a second or so

It goes away when the car is up to temp and I turn it off and on again

That's how mine started off with my golf but get it checked out to be sure cos if it is something else then it could be bad if it's starter motor then that's dead simple

Stuck for ideas with it being a 5 door
Can't really find many 5 doors on this
Will s3 bumpers fit or will I need different arches
What can be done to the 150bhp engine

S3 bumpers should fit no differently to a 5 door A3 to that of a 3 door A3... same basic shape etc... you are right though, not many 5 door cars on here...

As for tuning... I'd start here..
http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a3-s3-...ations-k03-k03s-agu-aum-engines-fwd-cars.html

The 1.8t engine is very tunable with the right bits... yours is essentially the same base engine Bill @ Badger5 runs in his Lupo... thats running over 360hp.. (with mods of course)

Finally updating this

Lots have happened

One of them being getting run off the road by a van man last year

Insurance where going to write it off so I didn't go through insurance
I was all up for fixing it myself but never got round to it so it sat in my lockup for over a year

That soon changed this year
I'm guessing driving a 1.0 107 I realised I missed the power
So start of this year I booked it in at a body shop to get the damage sorted

Also got new brakes and brake lines fitted
Also droplinks, driveshafts,cv joints new rear calipers as they where seized

All I'm waiting for now is a new exhaust and I'll fit my coilovers then it's ready to be back on the road

How it's sitting just now waiting to get driven again

Fund dependant I'm planing on fitting a
Fmic
Fitting a catch can and simplifying the pcv system heard aum engine is bad for getting blocked up with gundge
N249 bypass
S2000 filter

Bodywork repair looks real good mate! Glad to see you've got it back out of a long slumber :)
I was breaking my heart seeing it dumped in my garage
I lost all the love for it after the crash
But it's fixed now
Should bring a smile back to my face

Hopefully these come by Saturday

I know it's a 1.9tdi centre but I've been told it will fit
Gets rid of the centre silencer too

Wee audi passed it's mot

Did need the back brake hoses changed for it thougg

Pick it up today after work
Looking forward to driving it again that's for sure

Time to work on the mod list aswell

Get those rims painted black buddy, they look great on silver cars, although I am a bit biased :)
