Hi guys my 03 audi s3 bam engine started making a slight ticking/tapping when i gave it some boot. I instantly turned off the car and towed it to the garage who expected it to be a blocked oil pick up or broken oil pump so he took off the sump to find metal shavings. Hes going to start stripping it on monday but ive a few questions id like to ask...Whats causes this ? Is it an expensive job ? Ive also been planning on getting it ready for stage2 so is there any components i should upgrade to achieve more power while the engine is out. Thanks andy

Ouch. Metal in sump is bad. Plan for a full rebuild or replacement engine. Stage 2 is usually 3 inch downpipe ,front mount intercooler, replacement fuel pump or fully working and tested one . Tip and decent free flowing exhaust are a given.
