2014 Spark Plug Thread For Audi S3 8L

    2014 Spark Plug Thead (Audi S3 8L)

Right, First of all Id like to say I have read quite a few threads on this forum about which spark plugs to buy for a 99-03 reg Audi S3. The main contenders seem to be NGK and Bosch spark plugs.

    What NGK Offers:

The two most raved about spark plugs for a standard 210BHP model of the S3 are the BKR6E (Copper) or the BKR6EIX (Iridium).

The copper version is said by many to be better for our turbo engines but Iridium as we all no will last a lot longer.

    What Bosch Offers:

The main Bosch spark plug that people seem to speak about on here are theBosch Super 4 which is a 4 tip iridium spark plug.

These dont seem to be as popular as the NGK's but look like there more readily available through Halfords and such.

So given the little bit of research I have already done. Could anyone advise me on what spark plugs I should buy for my 2000 reg Audi S3 210BHP in the year of 2014 as all the other threads seem to be quite dated. I have a Halfords round the corner from me and they have Bosch Super 4's in stock so was very tempted to buy them today until I started reading the threads.

I don't want to adjust the gap myself or modify my coil pack in any way. I just want a straight replacement for the current plugs at the moment.

So Get recommending!! You don't have to be an expert in mechanical engineering.. Just post which spark plugs you fitted in your car, How they performed and how long they have lasted.

Bosch Super 4 are the last plugs I would fit. The spark will only jump one gap, the 4 electrodes are all gapped slightly differently so as one wears out it will move on the next. Aimed at longevity rather than optimum performance.

If your car is standard go for the BKR6E. If its mapped go for the BKR7E.

You will not find a better plug for the money, the ONLY down side is they don't last as long as the iridium, but you can buy many sets of the copper plugs for the price of the iridium. Its not the end of the world to change them every 10 - 15K or so!

2014 Spark Plug Thread For Audi S3 8L

I went for the copper BKR7E. Don't mind having to change them more often. Fraction of the price compared to the iridium's, and obviously with copper being a better conductor of electricity........

    To echo jim,

    Bosch super 4's are ****e,

Erratic spark, been noted to cause det, my tuner wouldn't touch my car with them fitted,

Good for longevity of the plugs but crap for performance.

I run the factory spec NGK Iridium spark plugs on mine with no issues. My current ones have done almost 20k miles.

I can understand the regular 6k mile changes using the copper versions if your car is in a high state of tune, but for standard power, why try and fix something that's not broke? Of course, if we're after a cost saving, then that's another reason for using the copper versions.

I am just taking the advice of you guys on here mate. The BKR6E versions are what people are recommending. Would you be able to provide a name or part number for the spark plugs you recommending?

The part number you already quoted in your original post. Only further down do you mention your car is standard powered, so I'm suggesting you stick with standard plugs. My car runs totally fine tuned to 275bhp on a stage1 Map using standard plugs, so they must be good for standard power.

After checking for compatibility both the BKR6E and the BKR7E are coming up as incompatible for the Audi S3

Went on the NGK website and the recommended spark plugs are the PFR6Q Which are these: Audi A3 NGK Platinum Spark Plugs 1.8 Turbo PFR6Q x 4 | eBay

Obviously I don't want to waste money on the wrong equipment. Any further help would be appreciated.

I used super 4s and had one fail on me, the electrode worked loose and caused a mis-fire, I was very lucky. I swapped to ngk's with heat rating of 6 and all has been sweet since.
