Headlight switch resulting in sidelights on ALL the time?

Hi,

The previous owner of my car had fitted front fog lights for show but had also fitted a front fog light switch.

My OCD wanted the switch gone and the fog lights out for better flow to the intercooler (I know!)

I got a non front fog switch from ebay but when I fitted it the sidelights are on all the time, even with the headlights off. The warning buzzes with the ignition off too.

Is the switch faulty or is there more than one type for the A3 8L?

It could be a faulty switch, when my headlight switch went, whenever I turned the headlights on my front fogs would come on too.

Changed the switch and all ok after that, they are expensive though!!

Max,

Make sure the switch is seated properly, I had a similar issue when I had that panel off.

Hold the front and push firmly from the back of the switch.

I hadn't even pushed it into the dash as the other one was fine whilst out. I've asked the seller for a refund, but will try for the third time to make it work tomorrow.
