I have a 1999 1.8t agu. after finally replacing the bumper and a wing after a small crash, after running for about 30 mins I noticed that the connector on the larger primary fan starting letting out a small amount of smoke as if it was burning out. after switching it off and leaving the car to cool, the fan had a lot of resistance and felt as though it was catching on something. im going to order a new fan within the next few weeks, can I disconnect and remove the fan with ease or am I going to have a massive job getting it out?

i find it easier to remove the complete fan shroud ( both fans )

4 bolts hold the shroud on, and the 2 electrical plug connections. I have to slide the unit out the bottom of my car as I have a large intake manifold.
I think it might come out the top too.
